Mahdi Surosh
Program Officer
Mahdi Surosh serves as a program officer at Freedom House, managing grants and monitoring progress for the Afghanistan Human Rights Coordination Mechanism. A native of Afghanistan, he worked with the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee. Mahdi formerly served as the head of communications and outreach at the Special Anti-Corruption Secretariat, High Council for Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption. and also documented results of development projects carried out by government agencies and other organizations with the Rumi Consultancy for the World Bank, USAID, and other donors.. In addition to his professional experience, Mahdi has curated and moderated two TEDx programs, namely TEDxDarulaman, in Afghanistan. Mahdi was a Fulbright Scholar and earned a master’s in public policy (MPP) from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Mahdi completed his bachelor's degree in journalism from Kabul University in Afghanistan in 2015. Since 2012, he has actively engaged in civil society, human rights activism, and media.
