Aimee Wenyue Chen

Senior Program Officer, Ukraine

Aimee Wenyue Chen is the Senior Program Officer for Ukraine at Freedom House where she works on projects focused on freedom of expression, rights of the LGBTQ+ community and ethnic and religious minorities, and support for civic activists and human rights defenders. She is a human rights practitioner who brings a decade of experience working in various governments and think tanks across the globe on rights, protection, and inclusion. Prior to Freedom House, she was a Fulbright Public Policy Fellow in Ukraine where she supported the Ukrainian Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories on its programming for the conflict-affected population. She has also worked with the governments of Japan and Bulgaria and with civil society and researchers in Turkey and the United States on support to refugee and immigrant populations, ethnic and religious minorities, and the LGBTQ population. Aimee speaks Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. She obtained her Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Berkeley.
